DASAVATHARAM - MY VIEWS

Hi again!
I am in quite a flow, this is my 4th post within a span of 24 hours.I saw the Kamal magnum opus DASAVATHARAM today with a couple of friends and would like to air my views on the movie.
A few things you should know before i start-
1. This post is NOT a spoiler. So those yet to watch can read through this without the slightest fear of me ruining your experience.
2. I am an ardent Kamal fan.
3. I am also a fan of KS Ravikumar.
DASAVATHARAM-the movie has been the cynosure of all for a fair while now,the TV media, the papers, the mass public, everybody just had to talk about it.Quite justified ,I would say!I mean, its a record feat isnt it,one legend essaying TEN different roles,a one of a kind feat in itself, guiness material, etc etc etc.But as we all know, there is nothing quite as damaging as an excess of hype and expectation.Sadly, people get carried away and raise the bar just a notch too high.We tend to expect a little too much from the movie. And hence come out of the cinema halls dissapointed .We would all do well to remember that the primary aim of cinema is to entertain. Even spreading social awareness oughta take a backseat-in MY opinion.
When i walked into the theatre today, that was what i reminded myself-I am here to be entertained and have a great experience...and boy oh boy......did DASA click or what!!
MY OPINION:
K.S.Ravikumar proves yet again that he is a master ENTERTAINER.The film drew my interest from the opening shot ,and didnt let go till the end.Kamal Hasan proves yet again, why he is one of the finest actors on the globe, each and every character-the look, the accent, the body language!fantastic!(though he seems to have put on a bit of weight!);the effort that has been taken by the entire crew just hits out at you in every scene. The storyline is exceptionally good, especially considering the fact that they had to fit in 10 different characters into it,and you can see that its been done very well.I specifically like the sequence of narration.Asin plays her part to a nicety, and the other actors accomplish themselves very well.Though the graphics are overall good, there are specific scenes where improvements could have been possible.Same goes to the make up,but of course, with ten characters, its near impossible to get it right each and every time-so no complaints!
Himesh Reshammiya's songs are fine enough, and work well with the visuals.Devi Sri Prasad has also done a good job on the background score.
Such a film requires utmost efficency in the direction, and KSR keeps up his reputation as one of the most efficient directors around!
Combine the acting genius of Ulaganayagan and the commercial brilliance of K.S.Ravikumar,and we get the 100% sureshot entertainer-called DASAVATHARAM!
FINAL OPINION- A must watch ,this is really entertaining cinema ,and you would be mad not to catch it!
P.S-Having said so much about the entertainment aspect of the movie, you might be led to believe that this is a film with no concept entwined in it,but its not so, am happy to say. There is a lot more to DASA than just fun and entertainment!
ADIOS!

FULL BOIL!

Errrr, ummm,Just thought I should give it a special mention in my blog-after all,i survived an entire year on this classic delight, that is available at our dhabas,V.Ramudevar hotel(a.k.a SAMFOX),and even in our 'mess'.
For all those uninitiated and ignorant reading this,in our part of the world,FULL BOIL is an egg preparation, quite similar to the Bull's Eye(i.e half boiled),the only difference being that here, the yolk is made to harden ,so that you never have your hands smelling of liquid yolk after digging into it!
It is generally served with a sprinkling of pepper or chilli powder.
2 Full boils constituted 70 % of my lunch this past academic year, while in college, hence I felt obliged to give it a special space in my portal! And its one of my all time favourites!
3 Cheers to the full boil!
P.S-DISCLAIMER-The references to eggs in my recent articles have nothing to do with my marks in the past year!

AND I AM BACK!

Hello Junta!
So i return to ramble after a one year hiatus,a year that flew by in a blur,a year that saw me scale new heights and sink to new lows,a year that happened to give me tremendous insight into my own psyche, and others' as well,a year that brought out some virtues from within me ,i had no idea existed.A few questions answered-
WHY DIDNT I BLOG FOR A YEAR?-
Sheer laziness! As much as I would like to say "Writer's Block",I am not really keen on putting it across as a reason,as the year gone by has been too eventful for that! The truth is , I barely ever came online while in college, and during the (now very frequent) weekend retreats,my craving for inactivity after a hectic week got the better of me.
WHAT WAS I DOING FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR?-
What an average nitt male species does on a standard day-waking up ten minutes before class, and scurrying in atleast ten minutes late past a grumbling prof, maintain an all knowing look with an occasional nod of the head while actually pondering about what to have for breakfast at snacky(or the more recent "staff " canteen(wonder why they call it so,the students far outnumber the "staff"))
,at the ten ten break walk off to snacky/SC for that long awaited breakfast -I think you get the reason why i barely ever have breakfast at the mess(incidentally, the breakfast is the only thing that can enter your system without you encountering NEWTON's Third Law within yourself!);Well ,its simply because i dont wake up in time!
Anyway, coming back to the point,I walk off to snacky (actually ,the entire Chemical Department lives off Snacky at ten ten),take out that last note, and amidst a massive ruckus about the billing section, force my way through(rather, find a friend already in front, pass him the note and say,"Machan yenakkum da!"),eat my regular chicken puff and chocolate pastry and make it to the 10.30 class-just about in time.
Then I survive through the next two sessions ,head off to the mess for lunch, where after fifteen minutes of a hard battle of "push and shove your plate",i emerge from a mad crowd, victorious and holding my very own hard earned-eggs!
After lunch, mostly its a half day ,which invariably means SIESTA,else,i rush back after lunch, and start up with my records and observations-ya you got it,its the lab sessions, from where i out by five.Having lab in the afternoons is a real pain in the neck, trust me!
Evening is the fun part.Thats when you pursue all or some of the various extracurricular delights the place has to offer.I personally prefer a session of basketball over anything else!
And now, after sweating it out,I return(not to mention ,its via the juice shop,we fondly call JUICY),freshen up,and head for dinner, which is mostly anywhere but the mess,I am sad to say-I really had a problem this year with the mess, unlike the 1st year.
Nighttime ,when the good life really starts,I do not need to describe the fun and frolic that comes with hostel life!
and the final question.....
HOW COME I AM BLOGGING AGAIN?-
Because I am bored.Because I can.Because I am 'in the mood' again ,after an entire year.
ADIOS PEOPLE!CYA SOON!

The Wayfarer

Wayfarer am I,

Through paths often trodden.

Whither i seek to go,

Is a tale long ago forgotten.

Through joy and through strife,

Hither have i come.

Through joy and through strife,

Again shall i go.

I know not what i was made for,

I know not god's magnificent ideas.

I know not what lies ahead,

For this poor traveller on life's road.

So I move on along the path,

Pondering my joys,my strife.

For wayfarer am I,

On the miraculous path of life.
