Hi again!
I am in quite a flow, this is my 4th post within a span of 24 hours.I saw the Kamal magnum opus DASAVATHARAM today with a couple of friends and would like to air my views on the movie.
A few things you should know before i start-
1. This post is NOT a spoiler. So those yet to watch can read through this without the slightest fear of me ruining your experience.
2. I am an ardent Kamal fan.
3. I am also a fan of KS Ravikumar.
DASAVATHARAM-the movie has been the cynosure of all for a fair while now,the TV media, the papers, the mass public, everybody just had to talk about it.Quite justified ,I would say!I mean, its a record feat isnt it,one legend essaying TEN different roles,a one of a kind feat in itself, guiness material, etc etc etc.But as we all know, there is nothing quite as damaging as an excess of hype and expectation.Sadly, people get carried away and raise the bar just a notch too high.We tend to expect a little too much from the movie. And hence come out of the cinema halls dissapointed .We would all do well to remember that the primary aim of cinema is to entertain. Even spreading social awareness oughta take a backseat-in MY opinion.
When i walked into the theatre today, that was what i reminded myself-I am here to be entertained and have a great experience...and boy oh boy......did DASA click or what!!
MY OPINION:
K.S.Ravikumar proves yet again that he is a master ENTERTAINER.The film drew my interest from the opening shot ,and didnt let go till the end.Kamal Hasan proves yet again, why he is one of the finest actors on the globe, each and every character-the look, the accent, the body language!fantastic!(though he seems to have put on a bit of weight!);the effort that has been taken by the entire crew just hits out at you in every scene. The storyline is exceptionally good, especially considering the fact that they had to fit in 10 different characters into it,and you can see that its been done very well.I specifically like the sequence of narration.Asin plays her part to a nicety, and the other actors accomplish themselves very well.Though the graphics are overall good, there are specific scenes where improvements could have been possible.Same goes to the make up,but of course, with ten characters, its near impossible to get it right each and every time-so no complaints!
Himesh Reshammiya's songs are fine enough, and work well with the visuals.Devi Sri Prasad has also done a good job on the background score.
Such a film requires utmost efficency in the direction, and KSR keeps up his reputation as one of the most efficient directors around!
Combine the acting genius of Ulaganayagan and the commercial brilliance of K.S.Ravikumar,and we get the 100% sureshot entertainer-called DASAVATHARAM!
FINAL OPINION- A must watch ,this is really entertaining cinema ,and you would be mad not to catch it!
P.S-Having said so much about the entertainment aspect of the movie, you might be led to believe that this is a film with no concept entwined in it,but its not so, am happy to say. There is a lot more to DASA than just fun and entertainment!
ADIOS!
